Family Law Advice

Your Family Lawyer

Getting good family law advice is critical if you are going through a situation that requires legal representation.  We have recommended many times to get the best lawyer you can afford.  Some people feel that their lawyer is brilliant, and some mention that they don’t feel supported.  Emotions are raw anyway, so it makes sense that things can get blown out of proportion. you

Family law advice can come in different styles, it could be that there is inheritance or a trust fund that you need to work through or it could be that you are not allowed visitation to your child.  You may have an agreement with your partner only for them to break it or even worse for their family members to get involved and what should be a 2 person conversation is flooded with opinions.

Research the Law

Family law is tricky, there are many considerations especially if children under 16 years of age are involved.  Just because you and your partner have an agreement doesn’t mean it won’t change if they are advised by their lawyer.  People can change and situations can change, all you can do is adapt.  Your lawyer will give you family law advice and always act in your best interest.

Lawyers can negotiate:

  • Property
  • Savings
  • Children
  • Pets
  • Vehicles

Everything changes when two adults separate and children are involved.  The primary carer can totally freeze out the other parent and this can be very upsetting.  Things like schooling and university, teenage trials and tribulations are delicate at the best of times, but if you have two parents with conflicting opinions the child can feel like they are stuck in the middle.

TOP TIP: Try not to talk about maintenance money with your children, or don’t involve them.  This is very tricky to do as emotions can run high, but it is best for everyone to try and keep a level head.
